We all start out with good intentions, hopeful that we will cause good things to come about in the New Year. If these resolutions are so good, why don't we follow through? Frequently, when making New Year resolutions, we are very general in what we want and do not make a plan on how to reach our goals.
Once you have set some goals, write them down. Next, write down how you plan to reach the goal. Be specific. For example:
Making your New Year's resolutions last is a two step process, first you set your goal and second, you develop a plan to reach the goal. Most people never make it to the second step, so their resolutions rarely last past January. Be realistic when making your New Year's Resolutions and remember it takes about 21 days before a new behavior or routine becomes a habit. |
