How Can I Help?
The events of September 11th
will forever be in our memory, each of us being profoundly affected.
Most of us want to do something to help the victims. We want the world
to be a better place. We have watched on TV as the many volunteers in
New York work with great resolve, and we feel proud to live in a country
where our citizens are caring and giving. We are grateful that our
leaders have put aside their differences and have joined together for
the common good. What can we, in Douglasville, Georgia do?
Consider this: what if each person did one thing to make his or her "personal" world a better place? The impact on our families, our neighborhoods, our community, our state, our nation and even our world would be tremendous. I challenge you to do just one act of kindness each day. Gandhi shared these words of wisdom "It's the action, not the fruit of the action, that's important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there'll be any fruit. But that doesn't mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result."
" KINDNESS CAN BE ITS OWN MOTIVE. WE ARE MADE KIND BY BEING KIND."- Eric Hoffer: Combat the feelings of helplessness by planting seeds of kindness and hopefulness in the darkness we are experiencing. Continue to pray for and provide for those who are in immediate need due to the terrorists attacks. But go a step further and commit to make the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time. If you would like to share how you have been touched by someone's kindness, please email me at nsfields@bellsouth.net. I will add your experience to the web site so that others may be encouraged.
